Nick Pipitone

Nick Pipitone has been writing hook-laden power pop songs for over a decade.

In 1998, his band Sugarsmack made a critically acclaimed disc that scored them a gig at David Bash's International Pop Overthrow Festival in Los Angeles. Pipitone's relationship with International Pop Overthrow lasts to this day, having earned him invites to gigs in LA, New York and Chicago.

Subsequently, Pipitone's Music for Minivans met with acclaim in the power pop community and landed on many top 25 lists for the year.

Taking some time off, Pipitone wrote songs for television and radio commercials and focused on material for his next album.

Intrigued by Pipitone's power pop style, Burst Records arranged for industry giants John Ferraro (drums), John Beasley (Rhodes) and others to record with Pipitone on his Burst Records EP Anything I Want To Say.

Finding himself with a stellar recording and no band, Pipitone assembled a red hot combo including veterans of Milwaukee's music scene, friends Don Moore (guitar) and Nick Verban (drums). Jack Rodee (keyboards) and Kevin Ponec (bass) round out the group.

Nick Pipitone and The Pugilists are ready to take the next step, preparing to record their first full length CD together. Their first single, Amateur Night, has already made its debut on the band's website. Tentatively titled Kicks and Fires, the full length album is slated for a late 2006 release.
