Taxi.com applauds Plans We Made: "Definitely the best thing I've heard here at Taxi all day, all week, all month!!!"

While studying at the University of Wisconsin, John released his first original recording, Turn it Around. He performed solo shows to packed auditoriums of enthusiastic fans. Turn It Around was followed by two more home-grown releases: I Know and Welcome Back. Each release sold over 1000 copies as John played at venues across the Midwest in the years following college. In 2003, Welcome Back landed on the desk of Burst Records Creative Director Daniel Holter. Realizing that John had a rare combination of talents - an expressive, soulful voice; deft, groove-oriented guitar playing; and earnest songwriting - Burst Records chose John McCarty as one of their first signings. In July 2004, the Milwaukee-based musician celebrated the release of his fourth album, Plans We Made. 2006 is shaping up to be a busy year for McCarty. He is currently planning extensive touring of the U.S. (LA, San Francisco, NY, Boston), and will be traveling to Netherlands and Ireland this fall where he is already receiving radio attention. Plans We Made is a soulful and confident debut, with organic grooves that slip and slide between heartbreak and hope. The CD also contains the Welcome Back music video.
