Rooted in jazz, blues and classic rock, singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist Julie Moffitt brings a trained, yet organic vocal style to Burst Records.

With a host of performance credits to her name including Summerfest and SXSW, Moffitt explores transition, uncertainty, heartbreak and a nagging feeling of isolation and mislocation on her Burst debut, The Stolen EP. Featuring drummer John Ferraro (Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, David Baerwald), bassist Dave Marotta (Toni Braxton, Burt Bachrach, Phil Collins) and keyboardist Chris Mosher (Sixpence None The Richer, Steven Curtis Chapman), Moffitt's Stolen EP reminds us how precious life's moments and decisions can be.

Moffitt's music draws from influences Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and Fiona Apple. Ranging in spirit from melancholy to optimistic, her sultry, musical memoirs capture the uncertainty of life and express the emotions of change.

The Stolen EP includes Moffitt's isolated vocal tracks, instrumental cuts and a copy of Sony's ACID XPress loop-based, music production software as Burst and Sony entered into a joint, promotional remix arrangement : The Stolen EP Remix Contest!

The soundtrack to your next seduction. - CD Baby listener review of everything I never asked for (2005)

Julie says,

The same piece of truth can be different depending on who you are and how your outlook frames it. Almost everything I write is truth for me in that moment. Let Him Be is the story of every relationship I've ever had. Blue & Green is the story of a particular heartbreak of mine. Try is a night I spent alone with my guitar at my then-boyfriend's house, trying to figure out how to leave him. Slow is an old childhood sweetheart.

And, Stolen: well, let's see how that turns out ...
